“Writing well, reading well, in all the ways we read and write our worlds–they are the heart of thinking, understanding, and living and loving well.”
Professor Elizabeth Hodges,
2016 English Department Commencement Speaker
The VCU Department of English held its annual spring graduation ceremony at Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church on May 14th, 2016. Dr. Elizabeth Hodges, who is retiring after being a valued member of the VCU community for the past 27 years, gave the commencement speech to the nearly 100 graduates in attendance. Indeed, Professor’s Hodges splendid “Reflection” was a fitting conclusion to a busy year.
Families and friends joined the VCU English Department to honor its 91 recipients of the Bachelor of Arts, 11 Master of Arts in English, 8 Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing and one Doctorate in Media, Art, & Text (see complete list below).
After it was over we mingled in and out of the church with parents and graduates celebrating this fine occasion.
Our congratulations to the graduating class of 2016!
