This lecture, sponsored by the VCU Department of English in conjunction with The Humanities Research Center and The Office of Multicultural Student Affairs, considers the notion of “Indian Country” in relationship to its shifting borders throughout the span of US history. How do Natives and settlers create memorials to both presence and absence on the landscape?

Dr. Scott Stevens is an Associate Professor of English and Native American Studies and the Director of Native American Studies Program at Syracuse University.

This lecture was organized by Assistant Professor Cristina Stanciu, as a part of her ongoing work in the area of Native American Studies.  For more information about Professor Stanciu’s work, check out VCU News.
