MATX doctoral student Robb Crocker will be featured in a special live virtual event Wednesday, September 2nd at 7PM.

Robb is the producer for Writing Our Way Out - The Podcast, a show he developed from Dr. David Coogan's book, Writing Our Way Out: Memoirs from Jail. In the latest episode, Robb moved from behind the scenes to the mic to share his own story, which he first wrote in Dr. Coogan's English class at VCU.

Addiction, Writing, and Recovery
Wednesday September 2, 7 pm.
Livestream: https://www.facebook.com/WritingOurWayOut

What do you do when you hit rock bottom? When Robb Crocker discovered booze as a 12-year-old, all his problems went away: his mother's abandonment, the anxiety about his racial identity, his father's relentless physical abuse. He went on a bender from life. Then he decided he wanted to live, and everything changed. Join Robb and Professor Dave Coogan, and VCU students to discuss the ways writing changed their recovery journeys.

This event will be hosted by Rams in Recovery and Writing Our Way Out - The Podcast and live streamed on the Writing Our Way Out Facebook page. Robb's full story is told in episode 6 of the podcast, Plotting Change, which is available now at Apple Podcasts, and Spotify.
