Anne de Marcken has won the 2025 VCU Cabell First Novelist Award, which honors an outstanding debut novel published during the preceding calendar year.

Zoë Gadegbeku is the 2023 winner of the Rebecca Mitchell Tarumoto Short Fiction Prize for outstanding short fiction. Her story “Of Flowers and Sorrows,” published in v20n3 in the spring of 2023, was selected by our editors from short fiction published by Blackbird over the previous two-year period.
